About Age Concern

About our work...

Age Concern works to help all older people over 60 and that covers an enormous age range. Someone at the age of 60 would not consider themselves to be elderly, but could benefit from Age Concern's living well projects by taking a class in art, dancing, IT or Tai Chi.

They could take advantage of the pub clubs which offer companionship and a reasonably priced meal in pubs around the county.

Other Age Concern services focus on the needs of frail older people:

Age Concern has over 40 day centres around the county giving a friendly day out and a hot meal to older people who otherwise may rarely leave their home.

The Help at Home Scheme financed by Shropshire County Council and operating within the Council's area, provides domestic help and volunteer visiting, assisting many older people to remain in their own homes.

The Home from Hospital Scheme operates in South Shropshire and Age Concern is part of the North East Shropshire Rehabilitation Team which gives short term support to older people undergoing a crisis in their life, such as illness.

With the help of a dedicated staff and some 600 volunteers, Age Concern Shropshire Telford & Wrekin is proud to offer an ever growing range of services to the people of Shropshire. The full list of our services can be found on these webpages

Age Concern's services are either free or charged at a very minimal cost and are available to all over 60 (in some cases a different age limit may apply).
